Painting on Silk?   Easy to Do!

If you’ve always admired the beauty of silk and the colorful scarves and clothing that designers create with it, learn how easy it is to create those beautiful colors and designs yourself.

With the simple Serti technique, you stretch the silk and trace the outline of your design with a resist.  You can use my patterns or your own.  Then paint on the dyes, and watch as they flow, blending and doing all kinds of interesting things naturally.

Janet’s extensive teaching experience insures that everyone is successful.  Beginners’ first pieces are amazing.  Experienced painters easily add this new medium to their repertoire.  The silk is beautiful, the dyes are beautiful - it all works!

A Variety of Classes Available

Scheduled classes around the Pacific Northwest are listed above.  Some of them have a special focus for added interest.  All of them are appropriate for both beginning and returning students.  The classes include plenty of time for individual attention.

Private classes - often called ‘Painting Parties’ - are also an option.  If you have 6 - 12 friends or associates who would like to join you, contact Janet to make arrangements.  You can come to Swiftcurrent Studios, or I can come to you.

Kids love to paint, too.  Set up a class for your Girl Scout group, homeschoolers, or a birthday party.  Or for a real family treat, try a joint class for kids, parents, and grandparents.  Everyone has fun!

Tutoring and my studio space and equipment are available for those who want to focus on a personal project.  Contact Janet to talk it over.
